UK tour: “Rabbi on the Road” – Beyond Israel

Rabbi Dovid Weiss
Pete Gregson, Chair, Campaign Against Bogus Antisemitism, writes:

As an apartheid state, Israel has no right to exist. No state that declares one ethnicity is superior to another has a right to exist. But what will we put in its place, in our search for a new Palestine? It’s something that needs discussing; two-state versus one-state is key to any future peace. And who better to posit plans but an Arab and a Jew?

So, I am looking for support for our “Rabbi on the Road” UK tour, which we are planning for the first two weeks of September. I am bringing anti-Zionist Rabbi Dovid Weiss (pictured above) over from New York to address the theme of a world beyond Israel. Author and Broadcaster Dr Azzam Tamimi will join him. There is more information about the tour and the speakers here.

The rabbi hails from New York and will preach the message that Zionism is racism and that Israel has no right to exist. He spoke at the Al-Awda Rising to Return Conference in Manhattan in May (where I was also a speaker) and spoke fluently, passionately and articulately about Israel and the harm it has done to the Palestinian people. And why, in religious terms, it has no right to exist.

Our plan is to travel around the UK in the first two weeks of September to visit up to 15 cities: Edinburgh, Glasgow, Bradford, Dewsbury, Huddersfield, Leicester, London, Brighton, Bristol, Cardiff, Coventry, Walsall, Manchester, Preston and, finally, Liverpool. The idea is for the tour to climax here, just 10 days before the Labour Conference opens. We need to influence Labour if we are to change the settled policy on Israel at Westminster.

I seek assistance with finding venues in these cities. Synagogues and mosques or community or conference venues, ideally seating 100 (or more). If you can think of a venue in one of the above-mentioned cities, I’d like to hear from you. I have about £7,000 set aside to fund this tour – the result of a recent compensation for an injury I received a few years ago.

I am also looking for folk to help publicise the events by leafletting their cities, in advance of the talks. The tour is only eight weeks away, so I need to move fast.
