Artists call for sanctions on Israel

Don't dance with Israeli apartheid: Artists boycott Israel

The actors Maxine Peake and Miriam Margolyes, rock musician Brian Eno and film director Ken Loach are among those who have joined Palestine Solidarity Campaign’s (PSC) call for immediate sanctions to be imposed on Israel, according to a PSC news release.

The news release, posted on the PSC website, says:

The call follows Binyamin Netanyahu’s comments, made one day before Israel’s elections, that there would be no Palestinian state on his watch. Netanyahu also made it clear, in the same televised interview, that settlement construction would not be halted.

In a letter published in the Guardian this week, Peake and her fellow signatories wrote: “The next UK government must push the EU to impose immediate sanctions on Israel until it abides by international law, ends settlement building, and ends the occupation and the blockade of Gaza.”

Almost 10,000 have signed a petition on Palestine Solidarity Campaign’s website in less than a week, calling for the next UK government to push for sanctions.

We need everyone who supports peace, justice and freedom to sign up, and amplify the message of the letter. With your support, we can demonstrate to the next government  that Israel’s position is unacceptable.

Sign our petition, calling for sanctions on Israel until it abides by international law.

And if you’ve already signed, please ask friends and family to do the same.

It is clear that without urgently applied sanctions, there will be no end to the suffering of the Palestinian people.
